Wilson S. Colucci, M.D., FACC, FAHA-Chairman
Dr. Colucci is the Thomas J. Ryan Professor of Medicine, Chief of the Cardiovascular Medicine Section, Co-Director of the Cardiovascular Center, and Head of the Myocardial Biology Unit at Boston University Medical Center. He is the author of over 250 peer-review publications, as well as numerous reviews, chapters and books dealing with the pathophysiology and treatment of myocardial failure. He has received the Clinician-Scientist and Established Investigator Awards of the American Heart Association, and the Medal of Merit from the International Society of Heart Research. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation, the Association of University Cardiologists, and the American Heart Association Councils on Basic Science, High Blood Pressure and Circulation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and has served on the Executive Council of the Heart Failure Society of America, an organization of which he is a founding member. He has served as Chairman of the American Heart Association, Northeast Affiliate, Research Committee, and as a member of the National Institutes of Health CCHF Study Section. He is an Associate Editor of Circulation. Dr. Colucci is a translational scientist who focuses on the pathophysiology and treatment of heart failure. His NIH-funded basic research program studies the basic molecular and cellular mechanisms of myocardial remodeling and heart failure. He has been involved in the preclinical development of many of the current therapeutic agents for heart failure. Clinically, he directs an active clinical trial program that has studied numerous new therapies for heart failure. He has served as the national study director or on steering committee for several multicenter clinical trials in heart failure.
